The Pantone colour of the year 2019 has been announced a few days ago. It is named Living Coral and as its name suggest, it is a coral hue.
Pantone is an american company best known for its Pantone Matching System (PMS), a proprietary color space used in a variety of industries: printing, paint, fabric, and plastics. Every year they select a colour that is expected to dominate the design industry (fashion, decoration, product, packaging and graphic design) in the upcoming year. This is the Pantone Colour of the Year.
The Colour of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. Pantone looks to see what people are doing in beauty, fashion and art, what people are wearing, buying, and posting about on social media…
Pantone creates different colour palettes that feature the new colour of the year. It is very helpful for the designers like me! The 5 palettes for Living Coral are below:
These palettes are very different: some are soft, some more vibrant. They all illustrate the dynamic nature of Living Coral within various combinations.
If you want my opinion on this colour: I LOVE IT!! I’ve always loved coral colour (one of my favourite lipstick was coral) and I’m very excited to be using it in my patterns. Visit the blog soon to discover it!
